What to Expect When Working With a Stationer

an e&f client resource

Choosing a stationer is one of the most meaningful steps in shaping your wedding experience. Your invitations are the first glimpse your guests will receive — the mood, the palette, the emotion of the day — and partnering with a designer ensures every detail feels intentional and beautifully aligned with your vision.

If you’ve never worked with a stationer before, this guide offers a warm, simple look at what the process feels like from start to finish. My goal is to make it effortless, personal, and grounded in care.

01 — It Begins With Understanding Your Vision

Once you inquire or submit a proposal request, I spend time getting to know your wedding — the setting, the colours, the atmosphere you want to create, and the design elements that feel most like “you.”

You don’t need a perfectly curated Pinterest board or a fully formed aesthetic. Some couples come with a clear vision; others arrive with only a few words or feelings. Both are welcome.

From there, I guide you through:
• choosing a suite style
• selecting your paper and print method
• deciding which pieces you need (details card, RSVP, liner, etc.)
• exploring meaningful finishing touches

The process is collaborative, thoughtful, and unrushed — the way beautiful design should be.

02 — Curated Proofs & Refined Revisions

Once I understand your style, I create your first set of digital proofs. This is where your design begins to take shape — typography, layout, paper choices, and overall tone.

During the proofing stage, you can expect:

  • beautifully presented digital mockups

  • clear explanations of design choices

  • 1–2 rounds of revisions to refine your suite

  • gentle guidance when decisions feel overwhelming

You’re never expected to know the “right” answer — I’ll offer recommendations and help you understand how each choice affects the final look and feel.

03 — Paper, Printing & Production

Once your design is approved, your suite moves into production — where every piece becomes tangible.

I work with high-quality, specialty printers to produce:
• cotton paper suites
• double-thick stocks
• letterpress printing
• foil stamping
• white ink printing
• handmade paper options

During this time, I oversee the entire process.
You don’t need to track invoices, communicate with printers, or worry about technical details — I handle all of it with care.

Production typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on the print method and paper type. I’ll provide clear timelines so you know exactly what to expect.

04 — Assembly With Intention

If you choose assembly services, this is where your suite becomes a work of art.

I carefully assemble each invitation by hand — lining envelopes, applying wax seals, tying silk ribbons, wrapping vellum, and preparing your suites for mailing.

Each piece is checked for quality and consistency.
This is my favourite part of the process — transforming printed pieces into a cohesive, elevated experience your guests will remember.

If you prefer to assemble your suites yourself, I’ll package everything beautifully with clear instructions.

05 — Mailing & Final Delivery

Once your suites are complete, you can choose:

Mailing Service

I handle everything — stuffing, sealing, stamping, and personally delivering your invitations to Canada Post.

Client Pickup or Shipping

Your finished suites are packaged securely and ready to mail at your convenience.

Either way, you’ll receive guidance on postage, mailing timelines, and best practices so your invitations arrive beautifully and on time.

06 — A Seamless, Supportive Experience
